• A for Apple Knight
    A for Apple Knight
9″ x 12″, watercolor, ink, colored pencil, acrylic, paper mounted on panel, 2025
    available: original, prints

This has been in progress for ages, started with a photo of the apple tree outside my house, and was originally going to be just a digital illustration before I decided I wanted to try it as an actual painting. Anyway, I like it and the idea is to have more alphabetical knights.

5″ x 7″, watercolor, ink, colored pencil, acrylic, paper mounted on panel, 2025
    available: original, prints

I’ve been experimenting with different processes for doing more illustrative work with traditional media, so this was a small piece to test some things. It has a matching Winter Shrine using the same base sketch that will be up here eventually.

    Cyanoterritories 3 (Tree Trunk)
6″ x 10″, watercolor, ink, colored pencil, cyanotype of tree trunk, 2024

This began as a photo of the crabapple tree in front of my house, which I printed by hand as a cyanotype on watercolor paper and then worked over. I’m really interested in how this process lets me borrow surfaces/textures I wouldn’t otherwise be able to paint on.
